The Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU), which has 25 branches on Long Island, including Central Islip, has thrown its support behind an organization called Team TFCU.
The team is a group of volunteers who are calling on members of the credit union to bring school supplies to their local branch. The supplies will be given to children in need so they will be equipped to start school in September. Typically, supplies most requested are Notebooks, pencils, Pens, folders, Backpacks, crayons, filler paper, binders, scissors, and glue sticks.
Throughout August, there will be collection Boxes available at all the credit union's branches, as well as staff members who will be happy to assist people who want to donate items. At the end of the collection drive, supplies will be given to Family Services of New York and Little Flower Children, organizations that provide students from kindergarten to twelfth grade with the tools they need to learn.
Credit union members have repeatedly demonstrated that they support the annual drive, as they understand that school supplies can be extremely costly for families. This year, however, the credit union asks that the donations not include certificates or cash, only the items kids can take to school, or use to do their homework.
Organizations like these can benefit by working with newsletter printing companies, who can help them explain the objectives of similar campaigns.
