Bay Shore to sheer those sheep

Bay Shore families will have an opportunity to visit a farm and watch sheep sheering and wool spinning, as Queens County Farm Museum presents a fun day of activities and education.

Observers will get to watch sheep being sheered for the summer season, followed by a spinning demo. In celebration of the season, tours led by farmers will take place at the farm. A plant sale, including vegetable seedlings, will be available.

The Con Edison Ecology booth will encourage children to participate in Adopt-a-Worm. They will also learn how to compost. Hayrides will be offered throughout the day. Mama Juke brings popular New-Orleans-inspired music to the venue. Lawn chairs are recommended. Food treats and local brews will be onsite to offer a range of temptations and refreshments.

Flyers can be printed in advance of events to distribute to established marketing lists, as well as being made available at select venues. Flyer printing can be done in full color and contain event information, location, and contact details.

The event will take place next Saturday, May 8. Advance tickets are required as ticket sales will not be available at the gate. Children two and younger are free. Children over two are $8 and adults are $12. The Queens County Farm Museum is located just a short distance from Bay Shore at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway. Tickets may be purchased via the event website or Eventbrite.
