Bach festival to happen in Bay Shore

A festival celebrating the music of the composer Johnathan Sebastian Bach will be taking place this afternoon.

This event will be an afternoon full of music taking place at St. Peter’s By The Sea Episcopal Church.

Bach himself was a German composer who lived in the time of the late Baroque period. The styles of his native country at the time were enriched by his own creative works. He composed a variety of pieces from hymns to cantatas. However, he is most popularly known for works like Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, which many attendees might recognise as the theme often playing in classic horror films.

Several music artists will be performing at this event to honor the late composer. Rachell Ellen Wong, who has won several music competitions including the International J.S. Bach competition, will be playing the violin. Mark T. Engelhardt, also a winner of a number of competitions who has served many positions in various churches, will be playing the organ. Eric R Stewart, who has been seen in many premier music halls such as Carnegie, will be conducting the symphony.

More information can be found on the Island Symphony site under the Logo Design. The church is located at 500 South Country Road. The concert will start at 2:00 PM today, January 26.
