Auction house gets in gear as cars go under the hammer

Over 500 vehicles are soon to be auctioned off at the David R. Maltz auction house in Central Islip.

These cars and other vehicles were towed away after Superstorm Sandy swept through the area last October. While the cars are all listed as flood damaged, many of them could be salvageable.

In the days and weeks following the storm last fall, over 3,000 vehicles were towed away from areas where emergency routes were put in place and street cleaning and debris removal occurred. While the majority of those vehicles were later collected by their owners, more than 500 remain unclaimed.

The city of New York has been working with the David R. Maltz auction house to either return the vehicles to their owners or sell them. The vehicles, which include Toyotas, Cadillacs and a variety of others, are all currently listed on the auction house’s website.

Auctions and other types of events or activities may be advertised to the community through poster printing or other types of advertisement provided by local Print companies, with catalog printing offering a good way to showcase all the vehicles.

The cars will be auctioned tomorrow, May 2, and Tuesday, May 7. The David R. Maltz auction house is located at 39 Windsor Place in Central Islip. Those who intend to purchase a vehicle must make a 25% deposit at the time of purchase via check or cash. A tenth of the proceeds will go to the auction house, with the remaining 90% to be placed in the city’s coffers.
