Area workshop to make most of Henderson gardens

Gardening in small areas may present a real challenge to Henderson horticulturalists, but a summer will help them to make the most of the space available.

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) department offers an assortment of learning opportunities, and one of these is its “Gardening in Small Places” series. A class on the list will take place in late August, and it will introduce the options available in the trade when it comes to trees and shrubs.

The workshop will focus on species and cultivars that tend to do well in a limited space, and those that are suitable for going in containers will be included. Proper care – including feeding, watering and insect control - will be discussed. Due to their size, trees are often the focal point in a home landscape, so the workshop will emphasize the importance of making sure they are thriving.

Tickets for this in person presentation are $10 and are on offer now. Those who order learning materials for an activity often choose to use the services of a local brochure printing company, which will also be able to prepare promotional Pens and other swag.

This introduction to the selection and planting of trees and shrubs for Nevada gardens will be held on August 27. It will start at 8:00 am at 8050 Paradise Road in Las Vegas.
