Wall Township workshop to take kids back in time
An event that will get kids from behind their video or smartphone screen and into the garden for some historically themed fun is now accepting registration for its September session.
Dubbed the ‘History Kids Club’, this Wall Township event will be hosted by The Historic Village at Allaire, and its open to children from ages 5 to 12.
The session will give kids a chance to experience what life was like for those who lived in Howell Iron Works village back in the 1830s. It has been designed so that it will offer both fun and learning, and mom or dad are welcome to stay and join in the fun.
The September session will see the club take to the village’s garden to learn about the different herbs, vegetables and other important plants that were in cultivation back in the early 1800s. They will each be invited to try some herbal tea and other beverages that kids their age would have been served in the 19th Century, and they will also make an herb sachet to take home.
The registration price for this Sunday afternoon activity is $10 each. It is part of a larger series of “club meetings”, and children who complete a selection of them will receive a patch with a History Kids graphic design. They may also be asked to mentor other members of the club.
History Kids Club’s September workshop will be on offer on September 8, and is slated to begin at 1:00 pm. The location for the activity can be found at 4263 Atlantic Avenue.
