Presented by the Macculloch Hall Historical Museum , ‘The Other Side of War: The Civil War on the Home Front’ exhibit is set to feature in the upper gallery for seven weeks. In this exhibit, guests will discover what life was like on the home front for families that soldiers left for the war.
The exhibit will demonstrate how women plated an important part in the Union War, serving as nurses for the U.S. Sanitary Commission. As part of their duties, they raised money for the soldier’s needs and the doctrine, as well as gathering supplies that made a direct contribution to the victory achieved by the Union soldiers.
Featuring poetry by Walt Whitman, letters from soldiers who wrote home needing supplies, for their camps, photographs of the women nurses, the women and children of the soldiers at war, and stories about the Macculloch grandsons who served in the war efforts, there will be all sorts of interesting artifacts on offer.
Poster printing, brochure printing, and flyer printing were probably used to promote this historic Civil War exhibition to the public in the surrounding district. This exhibition opens this Sunday, September 23 and runs until Sunday, November 11 at the Macculloch Hall Historical Museum located at 45 Macculloch Avenues in Morristown, New Jersey, just down the road from Manalapan, New Jersey. For more information about this exhibition, please visit the Macculloch Hall Historical Museum website or call the Curator, Ryan Hyman, at 973-538-2404, extension 12.
