Taekwondo tournament takes Manalapan by storm

Fans of martial arts and youth sports will want to make a note in their Journals for next month, as a regional taekwondo tournament has been scheduled in Manalapan.

The 3rd Annual Northeast Taekwondo United competition is raring to kick off, with competitors of all experience and skill levels welcome to sign up. Forms and sparring athletes can put their skills on display and square off against competitors to determine who is the champion. The tournament will cover two days, with the second day catered to sparring athletes only.

Athletes are welcome to arrive and check in starting at 10:30 AM before warming up for the different rotations. Each of the three rotations will last an hour, followed by a 30-minute break for lunch. Flyer printing can help promote such events to area youth and their parents by placing the Flyers in high-traffic areas around the community.

Two hours of sparring matches will begin after lunch. Saturday’s matches will also feature KPNP matches, which use the Poomsae Scoring System to determine points and crown a match winner. Sunday’s event will feature only KPNP matches, which start at 10:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM.

The taekwondo competition will be held at MultiSports Kingdom in Manalapan on Saturday, September 27th at 10:30 AM. One-day registration is $97.88, and two-day registration costs $140.56 per athlete.
