Manalapan loses winter blahs at county parks
For the next few weeks, the Monmouth County Park System will be offering activities to chase away any winter inertia.
Outdoor lovers will want to take a Wondrous Winter Walk. A Park System Naturalist will lead a nature stroll through serene wintertime trails.
Wondrous Winter Walks will be Thursday, January 17 at Clayton Park, Upper Freehold, and on January 26 at the Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center in Howell. Both walks will be from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Fisherman’s Cove Conservation Area will also have a walk February 1 from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm.
Bird lovers will be taking an hour long laid-back bird walk with a knowledgeable Park System naturalist. The Casual Birder walk will be at Hartshorne Woods Park along Highlands Claypit Creek on January 25, starting at 9:00 am.
Park Naturalists may carry business cards in case guests may want to get in contact with them to arrange visits at a later date.
Manalapan families that enjoy the beach will want to take the Winter Beach Walk. This too will be guided by a Park System naturalist and guests will be collecting and identifying ocean treasures that they find. Titled ‘Seashore Open House’, it will be at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park on January 20 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
Finally, there will be a turtle meet-and-greet at the Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center. This will be Saturday and Sunday, January 19 and 20, at 1:00 pm.
