Getting toward the end of summer, the Manalapan area will be ramping up outdoor activities with a parade of horses, as well as Latino and African diaspora festivals.
Downtown Freehold will have its annual Open Space Pace Parade of Horses on Saturday, September 17 beginning at 11:00 pm. The procession will begin at Freehold and end at the tracks. The track will have harness racing, live music, vendors, corporate tents, and tailgate parties. Proceeds will go to agricultural non-profits such as Monmouth County 4-H clubs, and equine non-profits such as New Jersey Horse Council, Special Strides, and Standardbred Retirement Foundation.
Beginning at noon on September 17, the Hall of Records lawn will be alive with the Latino Festival of Monmouth County. The festival will be free, and attendees can expect Latino music, food, dance, entertainment, and cultural displays. The fun should wind down around 7:00 pm. A rain date of Saturday, September 24 has also been set.
The Hall of Records lawn will gear up again on August 20 with the free 4th annual African Diaspora Arts Festival. This time, the atmosphere will be filled with African American art, music, vendors, health and wellness booths, and food options. Soulful Tee will perform. The festival will run from noon until 6:00 pm.
