Manalapan addresses security through paper shredding
Office workers and suchlike in Manalapan Township might be interesting in knowing that a paper shredding event is being planned. Those who wish to participate can bring paper documents and have them shredded and then trashed.
Paper shredding has been in the news of late because it is a way for people to protect themselves against identity theft, with experts advising that it is not enough to simply toss sensitive documents in the trash at home, and that paper must be either shredded or burned to prevent others from gaining access to the information on them.
To that end, the Township has organized a paper shredding event where a mobile shredding unit will be located in a local commuter parking lot. People can bring their documents and other confidential papers and shred them. Afterwards, the shredded material can be taken home, or placed in a dumpster. Concerned citizens may want to have some flyer printing done to get the word out.
The shredding event will take place Saturday, October 10th and will run all day long at the Franklin Lane Commuter Lot located at the corner of Rt 9 and Gordon’s Corner Road (across the street from Gordon’s Corner Shopping Center) in Manalapan. The service will be provided free of charge. Participants will want to remember to remove metal bindings, paperclips, and rubber bands, and that there is a limit of 100lbs of paper per person (approximately four boxes). Those with questions are asked to call the township clerk.
