Library to host news correspondent

Many in Manalapan who are still feeling the impact of Superstorm Sandy may want to attend a presentation to be given by CNN journalist Kathleen Koch later this month.

Koch will be in town to discuss the past and present Sandy relief efforts and those of Hurricane Katrina in just a couple of weeks, as she presents a program called ‘Hope after the Hurricane: Disaster Lessons Learned’. The presentation will be free and open to the public.

The presenter will talk about her experience as part of the recovery effort after her hometown, Bay St. Louis in Mississippi, was essentially destroyed. She is an 18-year veteran CNN correspondent and has turned her journalistic talents to documenting her experiences regarding the destruction wrought by the 2005 hurricane.

Over the last few years, Koch has won a Peabody Award and a gold medal at New York Festivals for two documentaries about her hometown’s recovery. She also volunteered during the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in 2012, and will be discussing her latest endeavors in leading a campaign for disaster aid relief for international occurances, such as Japan’s earthquake and tsunami back in 2011. Attendees may wish to have flyer printing completed and distributed to get the word out to the community.

The program will be presented at Monmouth County Library Headquarters, located at 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 23.
