Monmouth County Park System is gearing up for Earth Day, coming toward the end of April.
Bayshore Waterfront Park will present an Introduction to Saltwater Fishing. An experienced angler will be discussing bait, tackle, and gear. The event will begin at 10:30 am and will have both in-person and virtual access.
Hour-long nature walks are being planned in three parks, where hikers are to meet at the Visitor Center. Two are being planned at 10:00 am and noon at Clayton Park. Freneau Woods Park is offering early morning bird walks with a park naturist at 7:30 am and 9:00 am. Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center will have theirs at 10:00 am, noon, and 2:00 pm.
Holmdale Park will offer Fresh Water Pond Exploration at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. A park naturalist will lead the search for freshwater life, fish, and a turtle or two.
Freshwater creatures are also the focus of the walks at Huber Wood Park Environmental Center. These will be plant materials and insects that attendees can find in scoops of water taken from the park’s freshwater pond. Manalapan guests can tour the reptile house afterwards.
Beachcombing and clean-up will be the focus of activities at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, while Turkey Swamp Park will have a nature van with interactive experiences.
Spring pictures taken at parks often go to Stationery printers to be used in making notecards.
Earth Day will be Saturday, April 23.
