The pandemic has caused many people to change or abandon their health routines, but a YMCA in the East Hanover area is offering a program to help everyone resume their healthy activities.
The benefits of regular exercise are well understood. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a few minutes’ exercise daily helps boost immunity and prevent viral and bacterial infections. Exercise also helps improve mood, sleep, levels of blood sugar, blood pressure, and confidence, and such improvements are available to people of all ages.
Most gyms closed during the pandemic, cutting off the social aspect of exercise that is also important for all-around health. The Madison Area YMCA, near East Hanover, wants to help people return to their previous routines in a safe manner. They have introduced their “Wellness MY WAY” program to accomplish this goal. Christian Esola, the YMCA’s Health and Wellness Director, notes that some of the members of the “Y” might be reluctant to start exercise again, while those that do return may be disappointed to find they cannot exercise at the level they had obtained previous to the pandemic.
The new “Wellness MY WAY” program is a building block, low-impact, 12-week program that allows members to return gradually and safely to their previous levels. It is available at no cost to YMCA members and is led by credentialed staff and instructors. Brochure printing can be used to create pamphlets explaining programs like this.
