As health workers continue to fight the coronavirus pandemic across East Hanover, the annual RWJBarnabas Health's 5K Run and Walk, dubbed "Running with the Devil," will be taking an unusual format.
This time around, the event will run virtually, with plenty of gateways for locals and visitors. The online run will allow people to partake within their communities and homes. Partakers can even leverage their local banner printing services to create attractive displays to simulate the real event.
As the health crisis continues to affect East Hanover families, RWJBaranabas Health Center deemed it best to organize this year's run in honor of the local healthcare heroes, who have gone over and beyond in their efforts to combat COVID-19 in the town. The event's financial proceeds will be used to revamp medical services at the center's Emergency Response Fund.
The fund, an RJWBarnabas Health's initiative, provides the needed resources to offer a quick response to critically ill patients, provide medical supplies to frontline workers, and prepare for community-centered medical response.
The event has partnered with the RunGo App, which people can use to submit their run times. The times recorded should be delivered by the due date, and awards will go to the top three male and female runners.
The run will take place from 1 to 25 October.
