An upcoming fundraiser in East Hanover will raise funds to fight GIST, a rare form of cancer.
Team Turano is the Turano Family, who have been fundraising for several years to find a cure for this form of the disease. They have raised more than $100,000 for the fight and have now put an event on the schedule to continue the effort.
The family explains that cancer institutions and researchers across the country lack the funding to support research into this rare form of cancer, A great deal of additional research and study are needed to support diagnosis and treatment of the condition, which can occur in both adults and children.
Team Turano wants to bring awareness of the disease, which is not widely known, to a larger number of people to facilitate efforts to raise funds. They have been holding annual fundraisers since 2016, and organized “Team Turano Rummage Sales” to help raise even more funds. They are a registered non-profit organization and also accept donations.
Tickets to the upcoming event include soft drinks, a sit-down dinner, dessert, coffee, and a “tricky tray,” and are $65.00. An event like this presents an excellent opportunity for people to exchange Business Cards.
All proceeds from the event go to the GIST Cancer Research Fund. The date is September 17 at 6.30 pm, at the Hanover Manor on Eagle Rock Avenue in East Hanover.
