East Hanover rides the train to Easter

The Whippany Railway Museum will hold the 27th annual Easter Bunny Express this spring. The Easter Bunny Express is one of the seasonal excursions offered by the museum, and has in past been popular with guests of all ages.

The train ride begins at the railway museum and makes a ten-mile loop, which takes about 45 minutes. Many visitors also choose to enjoy the museum, which holds a collection of locomotives, tractors, and models. Guests have the choice of two types of coaches: the first type of coach car makes up most of the train, and is the typical train car. There is one coach car which is a restored car from 1927, called the “Jersey Coast” car. This car has individual leather seats and more decorative interior. All cars are heated.

Those interested in riding the train can purchase tickets online, as they do sell out quickly. Any tickets still available will be sold on-site day of for cash only. Coach seating tickets are $12 for children under 12, and $17 for everyone else. Jersey Coast club car tickets are $15 for children under 12, and $20 for everyone else. Babies one year or younger sitting on a lap are free.

The Whippany Railway Museum is located on Railroad Plaza in Whippany, about a three-mile drive from East Hanover. Parking is available at the church next to the museum. Events like this often benefit from banner printing to alert locals and those passing through the area. The train is scheduled to make its first rides for the year on Sunday, April 7.
