Workshop to explore nonverbal communication in those living with Alzheimers

Alzheimer’s disease can lead to people being unable communicate through verbal means, but this does not mean that the individual has nothing to say, and a workshop can help their family and other caregivers to interpret the others ways they interact with the world.

A free East Brunswick workshop will soon be exploring how, during the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, an individual can gradually lose their ability to communicate using verbal means. The attendees will be walked through this process, including ways they can continue to have positive interactions with their loved one, even if they can no longer use words.

The assembled group will find out how nonverbal cues such as behavior can be used to communicate, and they will also learn how to interpret these messages. The workshop has been scheduled to last for one hour, and the attendees will be able to ask questions.

One of the benefits that can come from attending an event like this is that it gives the individuals a chance to form a support network with others who are in the same situation. Flyers can be cost effective promotional tools for this sort function, and a flyer printing company can supply many styles of these items.

Alzheimer’s New Jersey has made arrangements to host this workshop on February 11. It is scheduled to be held at 197 Route 18 South Suite 308 North in East Brunswick.
