Workshop teaches anime-style dishes in East Brunswick
Maricel’s Kitchen is set to host an immersive culinary workshop that merges traditional Japanese cuisine with elements of popular animated storytelling.
The Anime Inspired Cooking Class is a hands-on session that will introduce participants to the preparation of well-known dishes featured in anime, including, Onigiri, Daigaku Imo, Gyoza, and Okonomiyaki. Designed to provide both practical cooking skills and cultural insights, the class offers an opportunity for attendees to engage with Japanese culinary traditions in an interactive setting. Printing services can be used to create physical copies of recipes.
Maricel, an experienced food instructor, is the instructor of the workshop. It is open to experienced cooks as well as beginners who wish to extend their knowledge of the history and practice of culinary cooking. Interwoven with the cooking portion is information on the philosophical and cultural history of these dishes within Japanese society.
The workshop is likely to be fully booked therefore early registration is recommended. Each participant will have their very own recipe booklet, which will allow them to have a go at recreating the dishes. The final class experience is the sharing of a giant meal, where all guests will have the chance to sit, taste and share with other participants in a friendly environment.
The Anime Inspired Cooking Class is scheduled for March 19th from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. The class will take place at Maricel’s Kitchen, located at 111 Main Street, East Brunswick.
