An upcoming course is being offered to volunteer coaches in East Brunswick.
The Sports Awareness for Educating Today’s Youth (S.A.F.E.T.Y.) will give those who take part an introduction to how to minimize any risk of injury faced by the young people they coach.
The course will also provide them with information about the fundamentals of effective coaching and protect them from the possibility of civil lawsuits. This will be done through covering a range of topics, such as first aid, the legal and psychological aspects of working with young athletes, and tips of training youth in sport.
All those who participate will receive a certification card from the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic, a copy of the latest The Coaches' Reference Manual and a permanent registration with YSRC. Instruction materials for programs such as this can be both designed and printed by a printing company.
The class has been scheduled to take place on July 6 from 6:15 until 9:15 pm in the Community Arts Center in East Brunswick. No late arrivals will be permitted, and participants are advised to bring along a pen, pencil, and snack.
The cost for the course is $35 for community residents, and those are interested can find out more by visiting the East Brunswick website. In order to finalize paperwork, those who wish to take part are asked to register by no later than July 6.
