An exhibition of photography from East Brunswick and the rest of the state is now open to the public at Rutgers Art Library.
Titled ‘Jersey Collective’, the show features a variety of photos taken around New Jersey that were collected as part of the New Jersey Instagram project. It was founded in 2014 by Keri Sullivan, who graduated from the Master of Library and Information Science program at Rutgers University. Each month, a different photographer is put in charge of the Instagram account for the Jersey Collective, and can add to it as they wish, so long as the photography added is from the state.
Sullivan remarked that she started the project as a way to provide a showcase for local photographers and to give them a place in which they could show what makes the state special.
The pictures shown range from people and animals, to landscapes and well-known landmarks. With the permission of the artist who took them, digital copying can be used to produce Copies of the photos that can be offered for sale to visitors to help raise funds for the library.
