Monmouth youngster advances in USA Baseball program

Jacob Ciccone, a youth league pitcher from the town of Monmouth Junction who played for Five Star in East Brunswick this year, has advanced to final round tryouts within the USA Baseball North American team that will represent the U.S. during 2015’s international play.

Jacob, 13, goes to school at Crossroads North Middle School. According to the South Brunswick Post, the boy is both a superior athlete and an honors student. According to David Ciccone, Jacob’s father, the young pitcher has been playing baseball since he was just six years old.

Tryouts for the team in New Jersey began with between 600 and 700 kids who were judged by both amateur and professional scouts. The field was then narrowed down to 140 prospects, and then further reduced during a competition in Allentown. The final round of the competition consists of 230 potential athletes competing for 50 spots.

Founded by the U.S. Olympics Committee, the USA Baseball program has its headquarters in Durham, North Carolina. The organization has been considered the head of amateur baseball, from Little League to Babe Ruth Baseball, since 1978.

Many tryouts and bracket events like this make use of banner printing, both to ensure that their sponsors are getting the exposure they hope for and to keep attendees apprised of the progress of their favorites.
