East Brunswick’s community theater group Playhouse 22 recently staged a production of the play Amadeus, which tells a highly fictionalized story of the relationship between two well-known composers of classical music.
The production starred local actor Wayne Michael Harris as the composer Salieri, and Michael Drake as Mozart. It was directed by Jon Heron of Munroe, and 11 other actors from the theater company rounded out the rest of the cast.
There were evening performances on Fridays and Saturdays, with matinées taking place on Sundays. The tickets sold for between $20 and $22 each. A printing company can produce the tickets, as well as the programs, advertising Posters, and all other printed items that a local theater company needs to put on a show.
According to a review by M. Lennon Perricone that was published in New Brunswick Today, the play went down well and Harris, the lead actor, gave an “outstanding performance”.
The original play was written by Peter Schaffer, and it received a Tony award back in 1981. It was also made into a movie, which was selected to receive several academy awards and is considered by the American Film Institute to be one of the top 100 films of the 20th Century.
Playhouse 22 , which is located in the Community Arts Centre at 721 Cranbury Road in East Brunswick, puts on a number of plays throughout the year.
