Alzheimer’s disease and other Forms of dementia can present some unique challenges to the caregiver. A workshop that will be full of information is being offered by Alzheimer's New Jersey, and registration for this East Brunswick session is now being accepted.
During the “Understanding Dementia: An Overview for Caregivers” talk, those who have a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or dementia will be able to learn more about these diseases, their stages, and other information that can be helpful to them in their role. It is free to be included in the event, although RSVPs are required.
The facilitator of the function will guide the group through a discussion about dementia and the impact it can have on an individual and their whole family. They will review the steps involved in obtaining a diagnosis, and also receive tips and advice they can put to use in caring for their loved ones. Self-care will also be addressed, and the session will run for one hour.
Attending a workshop like this can give a caregiver skills they need to feel confident in their role. Printed self-care check lists, promotional Pens, Brochures and other materials can be collected into packages and handed out to each person who takes part.
The Central Regional Offices of Alzheimer’s New Jersey will be offering this opportunity on January 9. It is located at 197 Route 18 South Suite 303 North in East Brunswick.
