The AAPI of East Brunswick, EB Arts Coalition, JellymanMedia, ACN NYC, and Kogaracon have collaborated to organize and host the first AAPI Food and Music Festival in Central Jersey. Dubbed the Kinnara Music Festival, this outdoor event aims to celebrate Asian-American Pacific Islander culture, food, and music.
Named after a mythological creature that’s half-bird, half-human, the event will feature both renowned AAPI musicians and local up-coming artists from UPenn and Rutgers University. Some performers include Camille De La Cruz, Mree, Joe Sonza, Alan Z, and Justin Nozuka.
There will also be food vendors such as Sam's Fried Ice Cream, Garden State Bar, Fomo Momo, and Cozy Tea Loft, and art vendors such as Baisun Candles, Hikari Wo Sagasu, The Ha-Pi Studio, and Doodles by Karen. These vendors will display their paintings, Logo Design, doodles, and photographs to showcase their merchandise.
The event’s primary goal is to break down negative stereotypes about the Asian community, educate the youth, and bring unity to East Brunswick, New Jersey. As such, it’s an all-inclusive experience to celebrate Asian-American artists, their culture, and food, as well as combat the hate they face as they go through everyday life. This serves to humanize Asian minority groups in East Brunswick and foster solidarity and goodwill among the people.
The Kinnara Food and Music Festival is scheduled for June 8th from 12.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center.
