East Brunswick appoints new police chief

Starting this January, East Brunswick will have a new Chief of Police.

Mayor David Stahl recently announced that James Conroy has been chosen to fill the post. He is currently severing as a police captain and also as the Commander of the Investigative Division. He will be replacing Chief William Krause, who is retiring from the job after many years of service.

Mayor Stahl noted that he wished to express his thanks to outgoing Chief Krause, and remarked that whoever was chosen to take over in the position will have some big shoes to fill. He further went on to say that he is happy to have had such a large pool of highly qualified potential candidates to choose from.

Each of the current police captains in East Brunswick were invited to be interviewed to fill the role.

Conroy has been a member of the force since he completed his time at the Somerset county Police Academy in 1994. After that, he rose through the ranks of the department, where he had a number of leadership positions. Along with his police training, Conroy has an undergraduate degree in marketing, which he obtained at Rider University. He also has a Master’s degree in in Human Resources Training and Development.
