Tiger Theater Company at Plymouth State University has produced several online education videos for teachers and parents. The company is a collaboration between the graduate-integrated arts program and the school counseling program.
The theater usually does live performances at elementary, middle schools, and high schools in Plymouth. This year, it created “TIGER TIME” - a series of educational videos for children in grades K-4.
These 20 videos feature community actors, local artists, and celebrities, and focus on subjects like cooking, storytelling, dancing, magic tricks, singing, dancing, bullying, and respect. Alex Ray of The Common Man of Restaurants appears in four videos, making kid-friendly recipes to prepare at home.
This video series, says Trish Lindberg Ph.D., artistic director of TIGER, is a chance to expand to a wider audience and help teachers and parents with learning. Dr. Lindberg was assisted in developing this series by PSU student and international story teller Frida Atayal, who has several years of film experience and features both behind and in front of the camera as part of the series.
Tiger Time Videos can be downloaded and viewed at Plymouth State University YouTube channel, which also features a variety of educational programming put together by professionals.
