New Hampshire’s departments of Natural and Cultural Resources and Health and Human Services have joined forces to make exploring state parks and getting a COVID-19 vaccine shot a one-stop deal.
The state’s mobile vaccine van will be traveling to several New Hampshire state parks in September. Anyone seizing the opportunity to get a vaccine at one of the van’s stops will receive a free day pass, good through the rest of this year, as well as all of next year, to any NH state park.
Generally, several methods are used for getting the word out about a public service, including those provided by a poster printing service.
For Plymouth residents, the closest park being visited by the mobile vaccine van will be Wellington State Park on September 10, where shots will be available from 8:00 am to noon. The next closest opportunity will be at Franconia Notch State Park – Echo Lake, 33 miles from Plymouth on September 29. Shots at that location will be given between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Governor Chris Sununu lauded the effort as a means to reach more people with the vaccine, particularly as New Hampshire enters its busy fall foliage tourism season. According to the governor, the mobile vaccine van has been in heavy demand since being rolled out in early August. Sununu said a second van would soon be available to keep up with growing requests for appointments around the state.
