Plymouth State University recently received $528,000 for its Meteorology program from the National Science Foundation. This is to support its research programs for atmospheric and related sciences.
This is one of two grants awarded to Plymouth University that supports research programs for undergraduates in science programs. It provides internships for students to work as paid program assistants and interns in science research.
This collaborative program is between Plymouth State University and William Smith College in New York. It provides funds for 12 internships, two program assistants, and six faculty mentors in the summer.
The program includes a research lab at PSU and trip to the Mount Washington Observatory. The two college groups meet often via video conferencing to discuss research projects and professional development.
The program provides research opportunities to sophomore and juniors majoring in science. They learn research skills, leadership, and communication skills interacting with professionals.
Associate Professor Jason Corderia, Ph.D., leads the program at PSU. The program he says is to prepare PSU students for careers in STEM fields. The most important aspect of this program is it give students the opportunity to get real-world job experience.
The program uses the integrated cluster learning model and tries to teach critical thinking skills to students. This collaborative program began in 2018. Printers design Corporate Gifts for fundraising and grant programs like this.
