Speare, in its role as an AASM-accredited sleep center, has been providing diagnostic and therapeutic care to those suffering from sleep and alertness problems. Among the sleep disorders the program addresses are chronic insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy and restless legs syndrome.

To earn and retain its accreditation for the last 10 years, the Sleep Medicine Program at Speare has had to meet or exceed the AASM’s professional health care standards. Core issues addressed by these standards include policies and procedures, personnel, facility and equipment, patient care, data acquisition and quality assurance. Moreover, the program’s goals must also have provisions to affect central New Hampshire’s quality of medical care in a positive manner.
The Speare’s Sleep Medicine Program operates a clinic as well as a private sleep lab used for diagnostic testing. Home sleep apnea testing is also available.
