NHEC issues 4th rate cut for members

The Plymouth-based New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC) has approved a rate cut, the fourth consecutive one in the last two years, effective August 1, 2024.

Plymouth residents can look forward to slightly lower electric bills as a result of the NHEC board’s approved rate cut that was passed at the end of June. That rate cut combined with a purchasing power reflecting its flexibility and buying strategy is expected to reduce the average co-op member electric bill by approximately 6 percent per 500 kWh or $8 per month. Those members using around 1,000 kWh should see a 7 percent savings or about $16 per month.

NHEC Board of Directors Chairman William Darcy said:

“We’re pleased we’re able to provide another rate cut that will lower our members’ bills and that the rates are lower than proposed by the investor-owned electric utilities in New Hampshire. With our members experiencing lower bills it is my hope more of them will consider participating in our Round Up program to ensure our continued support of community organizations and programs.”

The upcoming rate changes on August 1 will include a reduction of 3 percent for the Regional Access Charge as well as a 15 percent drop in the co-op power rate for most of the NHEC’s members.
