The 39th annual Great Rotary Ice Fishing Derby is taking place over two days next month in nearby Meredith. It is presented by the Meredith Rotary Club.
Fishing will take place at several locations along Lake Winnipesaukee. A total of $50,000 in prizes can be won, as well as a Disney World vacation for four. Application fees are $40 and include a $10 dining gift certificate. Registration is open to participants of all ages, although those under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian with them if they win a cash prize.
There will be seven separate categories including Lake Trout, Yellow Perch, and Pickerel. The five heaviest fish in each category will win from $50 up to $500. The top ones will then go on to compete for top winning fish overall with cash prizes of $3,000, $5,000, and $15,000.
There will also be several prize drawings for $100 and two for $5,000. Participants don’t have to fish to be eligible for these draws.
This event will attract fishers from all over the area, including some from nearby Plymouth. To spread the word about this annual event, organizers have invested in Brochures that can be easily distributed in the community.
