The Silver Center for The Art has several exciting concerts lined up for late spring and summer dress rehearsal sessions.
The center, which opened in 1992 at Plymouth State University, includes the Hanaway Theater that seats 665 people for opera, ballet, music, and plays. Its Smith Recital Hall, meanwhile, has 174 seats for vocal and instrumental concerts.
The PSU Percussion Ensemble will perform next Wednesday, May 1 at 8:00 pm. This group performs all over the world and tickets are required, although there is no fee to attend.
On May 2, at 7:00 pm, The Spring Jazz Ensembles Concert will be performed. This concert will have standard and contemporary jazz work.
During May 5 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, the Permigewasset Choral Society performs Frostina, a mixed chorus and piano piece composed by Randall Thompson. This is free to attend.
On May 21 at 7:00 pm, The Plymouth Regional High School will have a free final concert with its jazz ensemble, concert band, choir and chamber singers.
All May events take place in the Hanaway Theater.
Orchestra in Action sessions let concertgoers attend dress rehearsals of the NHMF orchestra in July and August. These sessions run from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. Attendees listen to music, drink coffee with musicians, and talk during the break. Sessions for ‘Brilliant Nights’ take place July 5, 11, 18 and August 1 and 10.
