In early June, several northeast Appalachian Mountain Clubs have scheduled a joint weekend community climb specifically for Black Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) climbers at the BarnDoor Hostel and Campground and Rumney Rocks, just a few miles from Plymouth.
Registration is required to attend this free event, which includes climbing clinics on Saturday, followed on Sunday by a stewardship project. Prior climbing experience is not a prerequisite. If those who do not have gear will include that information when registering gear will be available to borrow.
Accommodations for the BIPOC Climbing Weekend will be approximately two miles from the Rumney Climbing area at the BarnDoor Hostel. Both outdoor and indoor accommodations are available with inside spaces, consisting of bunk beds and hammocks, being limited. Spaces are on a first come, first serve basis. BarnDoor offers multiple bathroom and showers including available ADA options.
Poster printing services are invaluable for promoting limited capacity events.
Clinics are limited to one per day per attendee. Those who choose not to attend a clinic are welcome to self-organize a climbing party and a “Find a Partner” sign-up sheet will be available upon confirmation of registration.
Dinner Saturday as well as a continental breakfast Sunday morning are included in the event. Lunch both Saturday and Sunday are the responsibility of the attendees. A kitchenette and potable water will be available at the BarnDoor Hostel.
The BIPOC Climbing Weekend will take place June 10 to 11.
