What's Happening in Plymouth, NH…

It was recently announced that New Hampshire’s Executive Council has approved a contract that will result in providing or improving connectivity to 24,757 rural businesses and homes throughout the state.

We here in Plymouth will benefit indirectly from the 2,501 Grafton County locations that will see broadband inclusion or improvement.

The benefits, in the form of expanded service areas or speed increases up to 2 gigabytes over the next year and a half, will provide opportunities for residents to work remotely. These affordances will benefit people across six counties and will also allow access to remote telehealth medicine and education. The improved broadband is also expected to raise property values and reduce commuting, thereby cutting carbon emissions.

Other anticipated benefits include encouraging businesses to locate to Grafton County, or even to nearby cities such as Plymouth. Companies may elect to move here knowing that employees they hire within this county and others nearby will have the option to telecommute.

To promote exciting new contracts relating to issues such as internet access, bodies like councils may choose to utilize poster printing services to spread the word to the local community.

The $40 million contract came from Consolidated Enterprise Services Inc., one of three bidders vying for the contract from the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs.
