Nashua welcomes new health acre facility

A new wellness center has opened its doors in Nashua.

The Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center marked its grand opening at 45 High Street. The facility, which is twice the size of its predecessor, is intended to provide a range of health care services to those who have no insurance and are without the ability to pay.

The project has taken two years to complete, and it comes in at a cost of approximately $5 million. Those who use it will be able to access the services of a primary care physician, dental care and behavioral health assistance.

The new clinics, which fill the first level of Harbor Homes, contain two nursing stations, a dozen exam rooms, a cafeteria, a pharmacy, an area dedicated to eye care, a dental office, a shower station and even a laboratory for the facility’s clients. A postcard printing firm can create promotional cards that can be mailed out to residents in the surrounding community that let them know about the new wellness center and what sorts of services it can provide to them.

There is also a medical respite area for veterans who need a place to recover from illness, surgery or other medical procedures.

It is hoped that the new wellness center will help to divert people form having to use the emergency room for non-emergency medical care and treatment.
