Taking a cue from other cities across the country, Nashua has plans to be the latest community to offer live music, produced by and for its residents, in its downtown core.
The project calls for two pianos to be set up in the local area. They will be colorfully decorated and available to anyone who feels the urge to sit down and play. Thought it has not yet been determined where exactly they will be placed, it is expected that one will be situated outside the Nashua Bank, while the location for the other is still being considered.
The pianos will be put into place beginning in May and will remain there until October. They will be tuned and receive other maintenance twice each month, and local businesses have agreed to take responsibility for covering them if the weather gets bad. A printing company can produce laminated music sheets that can be included with each of the instruments in case anyone wishes to use them while they play. The lamination process will protect them from moisture so they will last throughout the season.
Other similar street piano projects have already been undertaken in cities such as Salt Lake City and Boston. The Director of North Main Music, Mike McAdam, hopes that the Nashua project will bring just as much happiness to the city as it has to those communities.
