Nashua festival parade issues invitation

Nashua folk are being urged to get in line (the parade line, that is) and participate in the first 2014 Gate City Fall Festival, a celebration that Nashua officials plan to promote into an annual event.

Recently, a community-wide invitation was issued to apply for a spot in the event’s kick-off parade. The festival, planned for October 18, seeks to capitalize on the season as a colorful time of year that draws thousands of visitors to the New England area.

This year, the parade is scheduled to start at 10.00 am from the city hall. The route calls for participants to proceed north on Main Street to the city’s historic Holman Stadium, a distance of approximately 2.3 miles.

At the stadium, the festival continues with an agenda that includes games, costume contests, entertainment, and, of course, lots of food. The roster of activities in Holman is currently planned to run from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The Fall Festival Planning Committee is looking for an enthusiastic response to the invitation for parade participants. There is no fee to march. Ideally, there will be a variety of bands, dance and theater performers, scout troops, floats and participation, by nonprofit community groups, as well as business organizations. Whether a restaurant, local Print company, or a dress boutique, this is a great way to get publicity and show civic spirit.

Though there is a limitation on space because of time constraints, there are no boundaries to imagination. The committee is open to all possibilities that align with the theme of fall in Nashua.
