Nashua event to focus on the joys of growing vegetables at home

Growing vegetables in a home garden can provide individuals and families with fresh produce, and an upcoming Nashua workshop will help them learn how.

The Nashua Garden Club will be playing host to the event, which will see horticultural expert Margaret Hagen provide information about how people can get the most from their garden and why this can be important. According to the organizers, she will discuss how growing veggies at home can help people to both learn where what they eat comes from and it can also provide them with a measure of food security.

Nearly everyone can find a spot to garden, whether it is in their backyard, on their balcony, or some other small space. Hagen, who has written two Books and hosts WMUR’s ‘Grow it Green’, will explain how to prepare the soil for planting, how to choose the right fertilizer and other gardening aids, and also which plant cultivars can be expected to do the best in their local climatic conditions. Booklet printing can be used to create handbooks and other materials that can be distributed to those who participate in a seminar such as this.

The workshop has been scheduled for March 1 in the First Baptist Church, which is located at 121 Manchester Street in Nashua. For more information about the event, and the Nashua Garden Club, people are asked to visit the organization’s website.
