Stratham photo contest to help pets in need

Stratham’s proud pet parents who would like to show off their fur baby to the world may want to take a closer look at an activity taking place in their home community.

The New Hampshire SPCA, which can be found at 104 Portsmouth Avenue, has organized a fundraiser a little bit out of the ordinary. It will give those who love their cat, dog, bird, fish or other pet a way to share them with others while lending a hand to animals in need.

To take part in the event, members of the public are asked to submit a photo of their furry friend along with a $20 donation. The public can then vote for their favorite when they make a $1 contribution, and the top choices will receive a selection of prizes. Anyone who would like to honor a pet can choose to reserve a day, and there are ways for the area’s business community to get involved as well.

The winning photos in the contest will be compiled, along with the Reserve a Day photos, into a calendar that will be sold to the public as a fundraising item. A printing services company can prepare these types of materials.

The deadline to submit a pet photo for consideration in the competition is August 1. Everyone who enters the contest will receive a free copy of the calendar.
