The Great Bay 5K will be back in Stratham this October for its 28th year.
It will bring runners, walkers and wheelchair racers together for a scenic race that supports environmental work around the Great Bay Estuary.
The event serves as the concluding race in the Seacoast Road Race Series and follows a mainly downhill course near the shoreline of Great Bay. Wheelchair competitors begin at 8:45am, followed by walkers and runners at 9:00am. Wheelchairs with motors are not permitted.
Registration costs $40 and remains open through October 22. Participants who register by next Thursday, October 1 are guaranteed a long-sleeved T-shirt for the race. Race bibs will include detachable offers redeemable for complimentary cider or beer at participating establishments.
Prize money will be awarded across several categories. The top male and female runners will receive $200 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third. Competitive walkers and wheelchair racers also receive cash awards. Additional prizes are available for age-graded performances, team competitions, costumes, and course records. There will also be a $1,000 award should the existing New Hampshire 5K record be broken.
All race proceeds will benefit Great Bay Stewards, which helps with conservation, education, scientific research, stewardship, and public outreach involving the estuary.
Organizers of road races often use poster printing to promote registration deadlines, award categories, and charitable beneficiaries.
The 5K is scheduled for Saturday, October 24 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Stratham Hill Park, Route 33, Stratham.
