Winston-Salem to open new courthouse

The new Forsyth County Courthouse in Winston-Salem will be opening next week.

Located on North Chestnut Street, the new courthouse is six stories tall and spans 250,000 square feet. It has three hearing rooms, 17 courtrooms, four public elevators, and two escalators. It replaces the courthouse that is on Main Street and is about two and a half times larger than the existing courthouse. Brochure printing can be used to provide more details about such new facilities and their benefits for the public.

Denise Hines, Forsyth County Clerk of Superior Court, expressed her gratitude to the Forsyth County Commissioners who contributed to the design, construction, and funding of the new courthouse. Hines said that the courts work to preserve order and peace in society, and this new building will have a positive impact on the ability of the courts to deliver the quality of services which the community deserves and expects.

There will be reduced hours at the current courthouse this week as it moves into its new home. The current courthouse will close to the public at 5:00pm on Friday, October 20, with the Office of the Clerk of Superior Court closing at noon.

On Monday, October 23 at 8:00am, the new courthouse will open to the public. The Office of the Clerk of Superior Court will open at 8:30am.
