Sundews, butterworts, balderworts, pitcher plants, and Venus flytraps are examples of plants that have adapted to tough growing conditions by becoming carnivorous, and a Winston-Salem area event will showcase these species.
Area plant fans may want to be sure they are on hand for the Carnivorous & Exotic Plant Symposium & Expo, which will be held in May. It is being hosted by The Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden, and additional assistance and support has been provided by the International Carnivorous Plant Society.
During the two-day event, attendees will be able to learn from experts on the world of meat-eating plants, and at least 60 curated vendor booths will be set up for the weekend. A schedule of speaker presentations and workshops has been planned, and everyone can mingle and meet other proud “plant parents.” Admission to the function will be ticketed, and these become available in January.
A symposium or expo provides a shopping and learning experience, as well as a chance to meet others who care about the topic at hand. Delegate packages can be prepared for the attendees, and may include promotional Pens, a lanyard, and educational materials prepared by a brochure printing company.
The 2026 Carnivorous & Exotic Plant Symposium & Expo will be on offer at 1020 Shields Road in Kernersville on May 16 and 17, 2026. More details, including information for interested vendors, can be found on the Visit Winston-Salem website.
