Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (A&T) will be playing against each other in four years’ time as part of the 100-year celebration of A&T football.
Announcements of such important games are often made known to fans and the community with poster printing.
The last time the teams met was in September 2010. The Rams and the Aggies played against each other every year from 2006 through 2010 as WSSU was trying to move from Division II of the NCAA to Division I. The decision was made in September 2009 that the Rams would remain in Division II, and so only one game was played that season.
Athletics director of A&T, Earl Hilton, said that fans of the team are very excited about this game as the two teams have not played against each other for many years. He expressed his happiness that this game was able to be planned. Athletic director of the Rams, Etienne Thomas, added that this is a great opportunity for the rivalry to continue and fans of both institutions will be able to experience a phenomenal event.
During the 1990s attendance at the rivalry game averaged just over 18,000 people, with 16,000 people in average attending games at Aggie Stadium.
Hilton said the two teams will play just one game, which will take place on September 7, 2024.
