Winston-Salem symphony to hold spring concert series

The second half of the 2020-2021 concert schedule of the Winston-Salem Symphony has been announced.

The Symphony will feature five concerts with smaller orchestras and socially distanced musicians. Bell, Davis and Pitt, and Truist will be sponsoring the concerts. Flyer printing is often used to promote such concerts and advertise them throughout the community.

The first concert will be “The Chevalier: A Voice to be Heard” and will be part of a partnership with the National Black Repertory Company to present a concert theatre tour addressing music and race. This concert will be this coming Thursday, January 14. The second concert will be a Valentine’s Mixtape of great romantic music including Gershwin’s “Embraceable You” and Lloyd Webber’s “Think of Me.” This will be on Sunday, February 14.

The next concert will feature Lukas Foss’s flute concerto “Renaissance Concerto” performed by principal flutist Kathryn Levy, and Elgar’s “Cello Concerto” performed by principal cellist Brooks Whitehouse. This will be on Saturday, March 13. The last two concerts will be a choral concert by the Winston-Salem Symphony Chorus on Saturday, April 24 at 7:30 pm, and the music of James Bond movies on Saturday, May 8.

All concerts will be available online at 7:30 pm, and on demand afterwards. The cost is $20 per concert through Spring Stage Pass, which is a digital membership program that can be purchased for $75.
