Two professional associations in rehabilitation counseling have given awards to an associate professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling at Winston-Salem State University.

The National Rehabilitation Association (NRA) presented Dr. Keisha Grayson Rogers with the Dr. Sylvia Walker Multicultural Award for 2023. The NRA advocates for those with disabilities and promotes high-quality collaborative and ethical practice throughout the profession of rehabilitation.
Dr. Rogers’ career in rehabilitation service and counseling to the profession was recognized by this award, noting her commitment to people with disabilities as a practitioner, an educator, and a leader at every level from state to inernational.
The 2023 Joyce Keener Meritorious Service Award was also awarded to Dr. Rogers by the National Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation Concerns (NAMRC). As a professional association, NAMRC’s goal is to promote disability and cultural diversity by advocating for equity and excellence in rehabilitation practice, education, and research.
Dr. Rogers is president of the organization and gained recognition for her leadership and loyal service. She has also served as acting president, president-elect, and secretary of the Board of Directors of the NAMRC. Additionally, she has led its fundraising committee since 2017, breaking all-time records in the amount of money raised by the association.
