Partnership forms between college and business incubator

Winston Starts, a business incubator, is partnering with the Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation (CFESI) at Winston-Salem University (WSSU) to support a student who will gain hands-on experiential training.

The announcement of new partnerships like this is often made known to students, and throughout a college community, with flyer printing.

Professor of marketing and founding director of the CFESI, Dr. Notis Pagiavlas, said that the many aims of this sponsorship partnership include being able to provide challenging learning opportunities for students, and to strengthen Winston Starts’ operations. He added that this is among the most important strategic priorities for the university.

Betsy Brown, director of Winston Starts, expressed her thrill in being able to team up with WSSU and build this connection between the incubator and students. Brown added that students will be able to get interactive experience and be able to apply their classroom learnings in the real world. Brown hopes that this partnership will provide opportunities for years to come for WSSU students, so they can not only hone their skills but also lend their abilities to the initiatives at the incubator.

Tonia Edwards, a junior studying business administration and psychology, will be the recipient of this initial Twin City Development Foundation Scholarship. She is now working on several research and marketing projects with Winston Starts.
