MORSCO buys Winston-Salem company

Murray Supply Company, which is based in Winston-Salem, has been bought by MORSCO.

MORSCO is based in Fort Worth, Texas, and is a distributor of plumbing for both residential and commercial use. It also distributes pipes, valves and fittings (PVF), as well as cooling and heating equipment (HVAC).

Murray Supply was founded in 1965, and is a wholesale distributor, providing commercial and residential plumbing products, commercial, and industrial piping, and supplies for maintaining multi-family housing. Murray operates a number of locations, but its Winston-Salem operation concentrates on plumbing.

MORSCO's CEO, Chip Hornsby, said Murray was the first company MORSCO has acquired in the Southeast, which he considers a very attractive area for growth. Up until now, they have been concentrating in the Southwest, Texas in particular, but are now ready to move east.

For Murray's part, its CEO Charlie Murray said they were happy to join the MORSCO family, adding the acquisition was an indication of how strong Murray Supply is, and how exceptional its employees are. He added that the goals and missions of the two companies are in alignment, and that the sale will enable Murray to give its customers even better service.

Murray Supply officials might consider working with brochure printers on a booklet for customers, explaining any changes the acquisition might bring to their operation.
