Major golf tournament to take place over the summer

The PGA of America, PGA Tour, LPGA, the Royal and Ancient and USGA, Augusta National Golf Club and European Tour have announced that the Wyndham Championship will be held in Greensboro this summer. Residents of Winston-Salem who are avid golf fans might want to come out to see this special event.

Mark Brazil, director of the Wyndham Tournament, said that golf has an advantage in the current environment as fans can keep a good distance from each other as well as from the players. The decision to hold the tournament arose from discussions with Steve Holmes of Wyndham Worldwide and Bobby Long, the board chairman of the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation from Wyndham.

Special championships such as this one are often promoted throughout an area using poster printing.Brazil added that both Wyndham and Truist Financial Corp. are the major sponsors of the championship, the latter being a bank holding company based in Charlotte.

The Wyndham Championship will take place one week before the playoffs for the FedEx Cup. September will be when the U.S. Open at Winged Foot in New York will take place after the Tour Championship and the Masters Championship will take place in November.

The scheduled date for the Wyndham Championship is Monday, August 10 through Sunday, August 16 at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro.
