The Wake Forest University Community Law and Business Clinic will be partnering with Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem to provide legal services to students at Forsyth Tech at no charge. The Forsyth Tech Cares office will be running the program.
Executive director of student success services, Stacy Waters Bailey, said that the Cares office is designed to provide students with services so that they can graduate. She added that having access to legal services reduces concerns for students in this area and is another way to help them.
The Community Law and Business Clinic will have 15 of its law students provide free legal services. Professor at the School of Law at Wake Forest, Steve Virgil, said that this is a win-win effort for both schools. He said that valuable experience will be gained by law students on a variety of legal issues while students at Forsyth Tech will have access to legal services on an immediate basis.
Among the legal issues with which students can get help will be family law, paperwork to start businesses, and consumer, immigration, and landlord-tenant issues. In the creation of such services, colleges often utilize brochure printing to provide more details about hours and availability of such services.
A grant from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Foundation funds the Cares office at Forsyth Tech.
